TITLE III

Title Three is a group of members from All Saints' Chicago who came together in late 2006 to discuss current events in the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion and the impending schism in the Church. As we began to educate ourselves regarding this subject, this group began to focus on how we could best affect a positive outcome regarding both full participation for women, gays, and lesbians and the cohesiveness of our national and global church family.

Title III, Canon I, Section 2 of the Constitution and Canons for the Government of the Episcopal Church states that "(n)o person shall be denied access to the discernment process for any ministry, lay or ordained, in this Church because of race, color, ethnic origin, national origin, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, disabilities or age."

Taking our name from this church law, Title Three has decided upon two goals: to decry any discrimination in the national church and to retain relationships within the Episcopal Church and the international Anglican Communion. We are asking for congregations to consider these topics both in prayer and discussion.

Our goal is to have this resolution passed via vestry or congregational vote in as many parishes as possible, and to submit it for vote at the 79th General Convention in 2009 with a list of sponsoring congregations. If your congregation passes this resolution, please e-mail info@titlethree.com so that we may add your parish to the list of sponsors. mailto:info@titlethree.com
